Invoking the spirit of Bretton Woods
- Publishing date
- 11 November 2011
- Authors
- Jean Pisani-Ferry
For Jean Pisani-Ferry the G20 will be successful if it leads to a common understanding that financial stability is a common good worth making sacrifices for- a consensus reached in 1944 during the Bretton Woods Conference. The author advocates higher interests rates or the toughening of standards governing risk behaviour by banks and for Heads of States to discuss in priority who should take the lead in reforming the system.
