The 2013 Global Go To Think Tank Index published on January 22 recognises Bruegel’s work in 8 different categories. For the second year in a row, Bruegel is placed second in the category of “Top Think Tanks Worldwide (non-US)" and we are number two “Top International Economic Policy Think Tanks”.
Below is a summary of Bruegel’s significant achievements:
- Last year’s surprise of being placed 1st in the “Top International Economic Policy Think Tanks” is this year a very commendable 2nd place, after Brookings (who were 2nd last year).
- Once again, Bruegel is 3rd globally in the “Think Tanks with the Most Significant Impact on Public Policy.”
- In the category “Top Think Tanks Worldwide (US and non-US) Bruegel has moved from 8th place in 2012 to 6th place in 2013.
- Bruegel also scores 5th in “Think Tanks with Outstanding Policy-Oriented Public programs”.
- Bruegel is 4th in the “Think Tanks with the Best External Relations/Public Engagement Program” in 2013 where it was 7th in 2012.
- In the new category of “Best Managed Think Tanks” Bruegel ranks 4th in the world, after Brookings, Chatham House and RAND corporation.
This is the sixth time Bruegel has been considered by the Think-Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania, the institution behind the Global Go To Think Tanks Report. More than 6,826 think-tanks were invited to participate in this year’s ranking process. Following the nomination process, all think tanks were asked to complete a survey on the nominees, before a panel of experts reviewed the results to identify any serious errors, omissions or irregularities. Over 9000 experts and peer institutions responded to the full survey, including academic institutions, journalists, international organizations and key stakeholders.
