Ditte Juul Jørgensen

Ms. Ditte Juul Jørgensen is the Director-General for Trade and Economic Security at the European Commission. In this capacity, she steers European trade policy to promote competitiveness, economic security, and sustainable growth by strengthening the EU’s position in global markets, deepening partnerships, and shaping a rules-based trading system that reflects the geo-economic reality.
Ditte joined from a position as Director-General for Energy, where she led work for the energy transition, affordability and secure energy supplies, as well as the phase out of Russian fossil fuels in the EU during the energy crises.
Ditte has more than 30 years’ experience in the European Commission, leading policy development, international negotiations and enforcement in the fields of international trade, competition, sustainable development, climate and energy.
Her previous positions include Head of Cabinet for Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, leading the Cabinet in developing and enforcing competition policy, senior management in the Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Counsellor in the European Union Delegation to the United Nations in New York.
Ms. Juul Jørgensen is a graduate in law from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.
