Andreas Billmeier

Andreas is the chief European economist at Brevan Howard, a leading alternative investment manager.



Before joining Brevan Howard in September 2022, Andreas was, since 2019, the European economist at Western Asset Management Company (WAMCO), a leading active fixed income manager. Previously, between 2014 and 2019, he worked as an economist at Stone Milliner Asset Management LLP, a global macro hedge fund. Before moving to London in 2014, Andreas worked for six years at Ziff Brothers Investments (ZBI), an investment firm headquartered in New York. He started his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2002.

Andreas received his undergraduate education in Bamberg, Germany, and Bologna, Italy, and went on to complete a Ph.D. in economics at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He is frequently quoted in the press and his academic work was published in REStat, JCE, OBES, IMFSP, EMR, and RMEEF.
