Caught in the middle? Central Europe’s strategy for growth 10 years after EU accession

The breakfast seminar – organised in partnership with demosEUROPA – Centre for European Strategy (Warsaw) and Central European Policy Institute (Bratislava) will take stock of Central Europe’s performance over the first decade of EU membership. It will examine the region’s economic and political fundamentals as the latter strives to complete its catch-up with the economies of Western Europe. An impulse for the discussion will be provided by the report „Central Europe Fit for the Future“ which is an outcome of the work of a Reflection Group consisting of the region’s leading officials, opinion-makers and academics. The report – whose authors will be speakers at the event - calls for the refashioning of the region’s growth model with focus on competitiveness and innovation capacity as well as overcoming problems with connectivity and cross-border infrastructure.
