Sandro Gozi – Undersecretary of State for European Affairs – of Italy and Gregor Peter Schmitz – journalist at Der Spiegel – came together at Bruegel on June 20 to discuss the Italian presidency’s strategy for the EU.
“The EU needs a fresh start,” Gozi noted. “And a fresh start is the motto we have chosen to define the new political cycle of the European Union.”
“Our semester cannot be a transition semester in terms of policies,” he continued.”It should be considered as the first six months of the upcoming five years of renewal.”
