Studies in Economics at the University of Göttingen (Germany) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; postgraduate research at ETH Zurich. Member of, i.a., the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), the Climate Council of Bavaria, the German Committee Future Earth (German Science Foundation) and vice president of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, research foci: energy, exhaustible resources, growth and sustainability.
