EDUCATION
Jean Lemierre graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Paris) and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. He also holds a degree in Law.
CAREER
Before becoming the Chairman of BNP Paribas, Jean Lemierre served as the Senior Advisor to the Chairman of BNP Paribas from 2008 to 2014. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he served as the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development between 2000 and 2008.
In May 1995, he was appointed Chief of Cabinet of the French Ministry of Economy and Finances and become Head of Treasury in October later that year. He has also been a member of the European
Monetary Committee (1995‐1998), President of the European Economic and Financial Committee (1999‐2000) and Chairman of the Paris Club (1999‐2000). In the 1980s he held various posts within the
French Tax Administration, including Head of Tax Legislation and Director General of Taxes.
TODAY
Jean Lemierre became the Chairman of BNP Paribas in December 2014. In addition to his role at BNP Paribas, Mr. Lemierre serves as Chairman of the French Center for Research Studies on the World
Economy (CEPII) and is a member of the Institute of International Finance (IIF). In 2009, he became a
member of the International Advisory Council of the China Investment Corporation and the International Advisory Council of the China Development Bank.
