Sven Giegold

State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Germany

Sven Giegold is a State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (from 2021). From 2009 to 2021 he was a Member of the European Parliament, including as a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and spokesperson for ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS in the European Parliament, deputy membership of the Employment Committee, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

From 2007 he has been involved in the German Protestant Kirchentag congress, as a member of the Presidential Assembly and member of the Presidium (since 2015). In 1998 Mr Giegold co-founded of AllerWohnen e.G. ecological housing cooperative and became a Managing Director.

He received his degree in Economics, Politics and Adult Education in Lüneburg, Bremen and Birmingham (UK 1991 to 1999).

Mr Giegold was born in Las Palmas/Gran Canaria on 17 November 1969.
