Mathias Sand Brander

Mathias was a Project Officer with Bruegel until April 2025. His project portfolio covered areas including European micro- and macroeconomics, welfare state economics, China on the international scene, and global supply chains. He also provided support on projects related to energy and climate.

Before joining Bruegel, Mathias was Project Leader in the Green Foundation, a Danish non-profit organisation focused on advancing sustainable development. He also served as trainee in the General Secretariat of the European Council as well as student assistant, intern, and Academic Desk Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Mathias is from Denmark, where he also obtained his bachelor's degree and master’s degree in political science – from University of Copenhagen. He speaks fluent Danish (native) and English. He has some knowledge of German.
