Giacomo Filibeck

Born in Rome in 1978, Giacomo Filibeck is the Executive Secretary General of the Party of European Socialists (PES). He has held this position since October 2022, previously serving as Deputy Secretary General of the PES in charge of international policy. At the European elections in 2019, he was joint Campaign Manager for PES common candidate Frans Timmermans.

A longstanding and prominent figure in the European progressive political movement, from 2002 to 2009 Giacomo Filibeck was President of the European Youth Forum and President of the Young European Socialists (YES). In the latter role, he was also a member of the Presidency of the PES. In 2010 he joined the international department of Partito Democratico in Italy where he oversaw policy relating to the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Africa. In 2014 he joined the PES as Deputy Secretary General. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Executive Master’s degree from INSEAD.
