Penelope Puri Negri

Penelope Puri Negri joined Bruegel as a Development Intern in March 2026. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from King’s College London and a Master of Public Administration (MPA), specialising in Economic Policy, from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Her academic work focused on political economy and development finance. She conducted research on Chinese financial flows into Africa, examining debt sustainability, governance and geopolitical spillovers, and produced a Growth Diagnostics report on Egypt, analysing macroeconomic constraints and trade distortions using World Bank and Atlas of Economic Complexity data.

Before joining Bruegel, she worked at Brunswick in Milan, supporting clients across sustainability, energy and finance through strategic research, media monitoring and competitor analysis. Earlier experiences include working with UNICEF Italy on ESG-aligned corporate engagement and family-friendly workplace strategies, as well as teaching science in Nairobi. These roles shaped her interest in how institutions function in practice and how policy design interacts with real-world incentives.
