John Tsoukalas

John Tsoukalas is Chair of the Hellenic Parliamentary Budget Office and Professor of Economics at the Adam Smith Business School (Department of Economics), University of Glasgow. He previously served as Head of the Department of Economics and Vice Dean of the Adam Smith Business School. Since 2020, he has been the Academic Lead of the UK Research and Innovation–funded Productivity Institute, Scotland Forum. His policy experience includes work as an economist in Monetary Analysis at the Bank of England and as a research fellow within the U.S. Federal Reserve System. He has also held a visiting professorship at Johns Hopkins University. His research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics and finance, with a focus on investment dynamics, expectations, and uncertainty. He has published in leading journals, including the American Economic Journal, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, European Economic Review, and Review of Finance, and has presented widely at international conferences and seminars. He holds a BA degree from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a PhD degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in the U.S.A
