Hans Geeroms
Hans Geeroms is a Non-resident Fellow at Bruegel. He specialises in European economic and financial policy, and the European Union-United Kingdom relationship.
He also covers EU macroeconomic policy and financial regulation. He has published extensively on these topics and co-authored a textbook, ‘The European Union and the Euro’ (Intersentia, 2014), on the euro-area crisis.
He speaks English, French and Dutch.
He is also a visiting professor at the College of Europe where he teaches EU macroeconomic policy. He was Senior Advisor for EU Affairs at the National Bank of Belgium and a member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the EU and of the International Relations Committee of the European System of Central Banks. He was the Co-chair of the EU-UK Network of 27 national banks in charge of analysing financial and economic relations with the UK. He was also EU adviser to two Belgian Prime Ministers. He is Emeritus Professor of KU Leuven. Hans holds a PhD in Economics from KU Leuven.
