Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell
Former Executive Board Member, European Central Bank
Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell is a former Member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) from 2003-2011 and former Vice-Governor of the Austrian Central Bank (1998-2003). Prior to this, Ms Tumpel-Gugerell held various positions at the Central Bank incl. Executive Director for Economics and Financial Stability. She was closely involved in the introduction of the Euro, was Member of the European Finance Committee (EFC) from 1998-2003 and chaired the Banking Advisory Committee of the European Union. Currently she is Board Member of the Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) and the Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) in Vienna and Senior Fellow of SAFE (Frankfurt). She was Supervisory Board Member of Commerzbank (2112-2025) and is currently Supervisory Board Member of VIG and AT&S.
