Dario Scannapieco

CEO and MD, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti

Born in Rome on August 18, 1967, and graduated with honours in Economics at Luiss University in Rome, Dario Scannapieco started his career in Telecom Italia in 1992, in the Strategic Planning and Control Department and subsequently (1997) obtained a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School.

From 1997 to 2002 he was a member of the Council of Experts of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, with the role of advisor to the Director General of the Treasury Department and from 2002 to 2007, he was Director General of the Finance and Privatization Department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. From 2007 to May 2021, Dario Scannapieco was Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), and, from 2012 to May 2021, he was also the President of the European Investment Fund (EIF). 

Since May 2021 he is the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), the Italian national promotional bank, and from July 2021 he is the Chief Executive Officer of CDP Reti.

Since 2021 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Assonime and a member of the Advisory Board of the B20. During his professional experience, he has also been a member of various BoDs and international commissions, including, since 2014, the Executive Board of Save the Children Italy ETS.

Since July 2023 he is the President of the European Long-Term Investors Association (ELTIa), the association that brings together the 32 main National Promotional Institutions and European Financial Institutions, including the European Investment Bank.

He is the author of various publications on privatizations and infrastructure financing and periodically gives lectures on corporate governance and infrastructure financing.
