Bruno Le Maire

Bruno Le Maire, born on 15th April 1969, is a French politician and diplomat. He is France’s Minister for finance and the economy since May 2017. He started his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He worked in the ‘Cabinets’ of various Ministers before being appointed adviser and then chief of staff for Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin. In June 2007, he was elected MP in the Eure département, a post he still holds. In December 2008, he was appointed Minister for European Affairs in François Fillon’s government. He was then Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries between 2009 and 2012.
