Antonio García del Riego

Antonio García del Riego has built his professional career in two Spanish financial institutions, BBVA and Santander, across eight different international financial centers. From Madrid, the first, to Brussels, the last, via Paris, London, New York, Hong Kong, and Geneva.

He has both driven corporate business and restructured business units. In his final stage at Santander, until his retirement in September 2020, he was responsible for the bank’s relations with the European Institutions, paying particular and close attention to regulatory aspects of the financial sector.

As a member of the EESC, he focuses in his work on the Internal Market section (INT) and the Economic and Monetary Union, Economic and Social Cohesion section (ECO).

He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Valladolid, an MBA from the State University of New York, Buffalo, NY, and he was a Fulbright scholar.
