BB-FUTURE

Assessing the socio-economic challenges brought by the aging of the Baby Boomers cohort, and the consequent “Care Wave”.

Timeline: 01/2023 to 12/2026

About this project

In the mid 2030s, the health of the baby boomers will have deteriorated and many in these large cohorts will be in need of formal and/or informal long-term care. The overarching objective of BB-Future is to make a concerted effort to understand the size and the implications of the care wave on economic and social outcomes, to appreciate the quality of this second ageing-related transformation and to develop policy recommendations for advance planning on the EU and MS levels.

Bruegel’s role will be to develop different Policy Scenarios, providing actionable policy recommendations for the EU and Member States, and organise policy dialogues.
