Guillaume McLaughlin

Head of the Interinstitutional Future Reflection Unit, European Parliament

Guillaume McLaughlin is the Head of the Interinstitutional Reflection Unit in the European Parliament. He was previously co-Head of the European Parliament Common Secretariat of the Conference on the Future of Europe, a citizen-led series of debates and discussions that will enable citizens from across Europe to share their ideas and help shape our common future. Of French/British nationality, Guillaume underwent his schooling at the European School in Brussels and on completing his Batchelor of Arts in European Studies, went on to receive his Master in Middle Eastern Studies, both obtained from the University of London. Prior to assuming his current role, Guillaume was a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) secretariat from 2006-2021 holding several high profile positions such as principal Group advisor on Brexit and the Future of Europe Conference, as well as Chef de Cabinet of the office of Guy Verhofstadt, President of the ALDE Group. During his earlier career, Guillaume was a political advisor to a prominent Member of the European Parliament, an Executive Research Officer at the European Policy Think Tank in Brussels and an Education and Research Officer at the Federal Trust in London.
