Axel Voss

MEP, EPP, European Parliament

Mr Voss was born in Hameln on April 7, 1963, but have lived and worked in Bonn for over 30 years. 

Mr Voss has been working as a lawyer since 1994. From 1994 to 2000 he was a citizens' advisor at the regional representation of the European Commission in Bonn. From 2000 to 2009 he was a lecturer in European affairs at the RheinAhrCampus in Remagen. He has been district chairman of the CDU Middle Rhine since October 2011. From December 2004 to December 2009 he was district chairman of the Bonn CDU. 

Mr Voss has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009.

From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and was primarily concerned with migration policy, the asylum problem, data protection and cross-border police and judicial cooperation, such as the transfer of criminal proceedings or the definition of common investigation methods involved in forensic science.

Since 2014, Mr Voss has been a member of the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee and legal policy spokesperson for the EPP Group. One of his main focuses is the area of ​​data protection. For his group of the European People's Party (from Germany CDU/CSU) he was rapporteur on the so-called passenger data storage (PNR) and on the revision of the EU data protection regulation. He was also the European Parliament's rapporteur on the reform of EU copyright law.
