Joakim Palme

Joakim Palme has been a Professor of Political Science at Uppsala University since 2009. His research focuses on comparative studies where he studies everything from child policy to pension systems. In recent years, he has been interested in the freedom of movement for workers in the European Union and its connection to the various welfare state traditions that exist there.

Previously, he was head of the Institute for Futures Studies (2002–2011), chair of Kommittén Välfärdsbokslut (The Welfare Balance Sheet Commission, 1999–2001) and was employed at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (1980–2009).
