Edith Terry

Adjunct Professor, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,

Edith Terry is an expert in East Asian political economy, with more than 30 years experience in the region, and author of numerous books and reports on East Asia. She was a business pioneer in China during the early days of economic reforms, and has been based in Hong Kong since 2000 with her consultancy, Cotton Tree Advisors. She has worked with some of Hong Kong’s senior public figures and listed companies on issues ranging from sustainable development to bioethics and corporate governance. Professionally she spent many years as a foreign correspondent and in think tanks in Japan, Singapore, and the United States, and has also held senior Asia policy roles with multinationals. She is fluent in Putonghua and Japanese and proficient in Cantonese. Her degrees are from Yale and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
