Dr. Zhang Xiaotong is Professor of Institute of Belt and Road Initiative & Global Governance, Fudan University, Shanghai. He is Managing Editor of Transnational Corporations Review.

Dr. Zhang was Professor of the School of Political Science and Public Administration, Wuhan University in 2012-2020. Before joining the academia, he served as deputy Director of the U.S. Desk of Chinese Ministry of Commerce in 2010-2012, and Trade Attaché of the Chinese Mission to the European Union in 2004-2010. He obtained a Ph.D. degree on political science at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). He published Geopolitics of Global Railways (People’s Publisher, 2022) and co-edited Chinese Economic Diplomacy: The PRC's Growing International Influence in the 21st Century (ACA, 2015) and Deepening the EU-China Partnership: Bridging Institutional and Ideational Differences in an Unstable World (Routledge, 2017).

Dr. Zhang is Principal Investigator of “The Relationship between Global Governance and China’s Belt and Road Initiative”, Major Research Grant of China’s National Social Sciences Foundation, 2020-2025.
