Erik Canton

Erik Canton is deputy chief economist and deputy head of unit of the Common R&I Strategy and Foresight Service at the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation of the European Commission. He previously worked at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, in the field of structural reforms and investment. Before joining the European Commission, Erik was Partner Competition Policy and Regulation at Ecorys in Rotterdam, consultant at the World Bank, and economist at the CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. Erik holds a PhD from Tilburg University. His work focusses on research & innovation, economic growth, productivity, human capital, inclusive growth, and the digital and green transitions.
