Radek Urban

Executive Director Resolution Department, Czech National Bank,

Radek Urban is Executive Director of the Resolution Department of the Czech National Bank. He is in charge of a team of experienced professionals responsible for resolution planning, resolution financing and execution. The international dimension of the job reflects the Czech National Bank´s participation in resolution colleges organised by the Single Resolution Board for parent groups of Czech systemically important banks.

He also sits on the supervisory board of the Czech Financial Markets Guarantee System. This public body administers assets of the Deposit Insurance Fund and the National Resolution Fund.

Radek Urban has graduated from the Prague School of Economics. His professional career has always been linked to financial markets. He worked for the Czech National Bank in the financial markets department, in Ceska sporitelna (from the Erste Bank Group) in institutional asset management and mutual funds area, and as deputy finance minister responsible for the financial services portfolio.

He has also served in the Financial Market Committee (an advisory body to the Governor of the Czech National Bank) and as a member of the Settlements committee of the Prague Stock Exchange. His consulted for the Joint Vienna Institute and for the [American] Financial Services Volunteers Corps. He participated in the work of the DeLarosiere commission to reform supervisory authorities and CESR Consultation Working Group for asset management. In the Czech Banking Association he has been running the Czech Master Agreement project.
