The new EU Governance Framework and regional policy autonomy: the example of Belgium and Spain
This event, organised in cooperation with the Spanish Embassy in Belgium, was chaired by André Sapir, Senior Fellow at Bruegel. There were two guest speakers: Joaquin Almunia, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for competition policy and Didier Reynders, Belgian Finance Minister and three commentators: Alain Cuenca, Director general for Financial Coordination with the Regions and Local Entities at the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance, Etienne de Callataÿ, Chief Economist, Bank Degroof and Koen Alvoed, Professor of economics at HUBrussel, affiliated since July 2009 to the cabinet of the Flemish Minister of Finance and Budget.
