[Cancelled] Shifting taxes in order to achieve green goals
[This event is cancelled until further notice] How could shifting the tax burden from labour to pollution and resources help the EU reach its climate goals?
Taxation is a key component to fulfilling the EU’s climate goals. To reduce carbon emissions, and achieve a sustainable economy more generally, incentives have to be in alignment with green policy objectives. One of the ways to do this is by shifting the tax burden from labour towards pollution and resources. Hopefully, that would also lead to a decrease in unemployment and to job creation.
In this event, jointly organised with Goldschmeding Foundation and Ex’Tax, we will hear from the creators of the Ex’Tax project. They will present their proposal and in the subsequent discussion we will examine the possible implementation with representatives of EU member states.
On-site participation at this event is only available to Bruegel members and selected invitees. The event is publicly livestreamed on this page.
