We are delighted to welcome Jochen Andritzky to discuss the prospects and implications of opening the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) to non-EU countries. Drawing on his recent article co-authored with Nils Hesse in Intereconomics, Mr Andritzky will examine how expanding the ETS could enhance global climate cooperation, improve economic efficiency, and support sustainable development. The talk will reflect on both the political and technical challenges of such an initiative, and what steps would be necessary to make it a viable option for the future of EU climate policy.
