Talks@Bruegel: The EU–Mercosur Agreement in the current geopolitical context with Nicolas Albertoni

We were pleased to welcome Nicolás Albertoni, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, for an exchange on current economic, trade, and geopolitical developments between Latín America and the European Union. Drawing on his recent role leading Uruguay’s engagement in the EU–Mercosur negotiations, Mr Albertoni discussed the agreement’s broader political economy implications and reflected on the evolving European and global trade landscape. The conversation also explored the strategic challenges and opportunities facing the EU–Latin America relationship at a time of shifting geoeconomic and geopolitical dynamics.
