For this second event of Reopening Europe we will livestream from the town of Marckolsheim. A symbolic place of the borders of Europe, where remnants of the Maginot Line fortification left over from the Second World War can still be seen. Today this is one of the many towns of a euro-district which includes French and German local administrative cooperation.
We will explore how in such a peculiar cross-border region COVID-19 has affected people’s situations, local institutions, and the economy. What are their hopes and fears going forward? And what are their perceptions of Europe?
