Moldova's accession path: a conversation with PM Vasile Tofan

Since taking office on 22 July 2026, Moldova’s Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has framed his government's mandate around advancing Moldova's EU accession. At this event, we examined both the political and economic dimensions of that path: the next steps in the accession process, alongside the structural reforms needed to underpin it. The discussion covered Moldova's competitiveness, efforts to attract domestic and foreign investment, tax and regulatory reform, digitalisation, and strengthening state capacity. In conversation with Bruegel's Senior Fellow, Zsolt Darvas, Prime Minister Tofan expanded on how EU integration can anchor and accelerate Moldova's economic transformation.
