A year into the second von der Leyen Commission, Europe’s pursuit of a clean, just and competitive transition has entered a critical phase. From advancing the Green Deal’s implementation and reinforcing industrial competitiveness, to navigating energy security and reforming state aid and competition frameworks, the policy agenda is dense and decisive. This conversation took stock of the key initiatives undertaken so far — in competition, climate, energy, and industrial policy — and explored the challenges and priorities ahead as Europe seeks to reconcile decarbonisation with economic dynamism and social fairness. In a fireside chat format, Teresa Ribera joined Jeromin Zettelmeyer and Simone Tagliapietra for an open discussion on Europe’s progress, direction, and global role in shaping the clean industrial era.
