As national recovery plans are finalised and submitted to the Commission, the quality of spending and good governance of funds will be key to the success of Next Generation EU, so that spending not only sets Europe on the road to recovery but is also free of corruption. Unfortunately, EU funding has a mixed record of avoiding corruption.
In this episode of The Sound of Economics Live, Bruegel Deputy director Maria Demertzis and Tomáš Zdechovský, a member of the European Parliament from the Czech Republic will examine the current debate around the spending of EU funds in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, looking at the broader issue of national spending of EU funds and drawing on the experience of the Czech Republic.
This event is audio-only and will be recorded with a live audience on clubhouse. We invite you to join the conversation and be part of the live audience on the platform. The audio of the podcast will also be live streamed on the Bruegel website and social media channels.
