AI-enabled cybersecurity and defence are becoming central to national resilience. Robust digital infrastructure and advanced AI technologies are critical for protecting critical infrastructure, enhancing threat intelligence, and strengthening defence capabilities.
This event featured a discussion between Kent Walker, President of Global Affairs and as an chief legal officer of Google and Alphabet, and the audience on the evolving role of AI in cybersecurity and defence. The conversation explored key questions around the potential and limits of AI-powered security tools, the speed and scale of emerging cyber threats, and the role of digital openness in building effective defence and economic cooperation partnerships — including how Europe can strengthen its own capacity to act in an increasingly contested digital environment.
This roundtable is only open to Bruegel's Membership and a small number of select invitees.
