Chief Economist, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
Sergei Guriev is a Morgan Stanley Professor of Economics and the Rector of the New Economic School in Moscow. He is also a President of the Center for Economic and Financial Research at the New Economic School.
In 1997-98, Mr. Guriev visited the Department of Economics at M.I.T. for a one-year post-doctoral placement, and in 2003-2004, the Department of Economics at Princeton University as a Visiting Assistant Professor. Since 1999, Mr. Guriev has been a Research Affiliate at Centre for Economic Policy Research, London. His research interests include contract theory, corporate governance, and labour mobility.
He is also a member of the President of Russia‘s Council on Science, Education, and Technology in Russia, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dynasty Foundation, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Sberbank (Savings Bank of the Russian Federation), Rosselkhozbank (Russian Agricultural Bank); Agency for Home Mortgage Lending.
In 2006, he was selected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
