Rainer Baake
State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy,
Rainer Baake is a State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy since January 2014. He studied economics (degree of Diplom-Volkswirt) in Marburg and after his Abitur, worked as community organiser in Chicago. During his professional career he filled positions such as first district councillor for Marburg-Biedenkopf (1985 – 1991), State Secretary at the Ministry for Environment, Energy and Federal Affairs of the state of Hesse (later becoming the Ministry for Environment, Energy, Youth, Family and Health, 1991 - 1998), State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (1998 - 2005) and Federal managing director of German Environmental Aid (2006 - 2012). He was also Executive Director of Agora Energiewende.
