Born in 1957, Pervenche Berès has been a Member of the European Parliament since 1994. S&D Spokesperson of the ECON committee. Full member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, substitute member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and of the Institutional Affairs Committee.  Former substitute member of the “TAXE I” et “TAXE II” special committee and substitute member of the PANA inquiry committee.She has been appointed in 2014, rapporteur on "The economic governance framework of EMU: Stocktaking of possible building blocks" and in 2015 on " a Budgetary capacity for the Eurozone".

The ECB needs political guidance on secondary objectives

While EU Treaties clearly stipulate that the ECB “shall support the general objectives of the European Union”, it is not appropriate to simply stand by, wishing that the ECB will use its discretionary power to act on them. Political institutions of the EU should prioritise the secondary goals to legitimise the ECB’s action.
