Maximilian Strotmann

Communication Adviser, Cabinet of European Commissioner Andrus Ansip,

Maximilian Strotmann is a member of the private office and communication adviser of Andrus Ansip, European Commission Vice-President in charge of the Digital Single Market. His main areas of responsibility in Mr Ansip's team are e-government, digital industrialisation, interoperability and startups.

Working for the Commission since 1997, Max could look into quite a range of interesting stuff: tourism and enterprise policies, audit and anti-fraud issues first; later communication and institutional IT issues as well as maritime transport, logistics and intelligent transport systems.

Max studied a helpful mix of sociology, psychology and economic and social policies at Augsburg University (Germany). The 1989 fall of the Berlin wall was a unique opportunity to expand his university studies with extensive trips around central and Eastern Europe, into Europe's political, historical, economic, cultural past and present without borders. Max is a happy father of one and feels married.
