Katarina is a Research Manager at VVA Economics & Policy.

Throughout her professional experience, she gained knowledge and expertise of several policy areas, including environmental protection, trade, creative industries, transport and consumer rights. She is experienced in legal and policy research, drafting documents, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and coordination of research projects.

Before joining VVA, Katarina worked as an EU policy consultant for an advisory service of the European Commission, where she provided advice to citizens and businesses on their rights under EU law. Prior to this, she researched de jure restrictions to trade in services as a legal consultant in the OECD. She also contributed to several publications for a project mapping environmental crime in the EU while working for an international environmental NGO and an academic research institute. Moreover, she gained experience in the creative industries sector at a Brussels-based lobbying association.

She pursued her university studies in the Netherlands and holds a bachelor’s degree in International and European Law with specialization in Public International Law and Human Rights and a master’s degree in EU Law and International Economic Law.

Katarina is a native Slovak speaker, with professional proficiency in English and Czech, and an intermediate level of French.

In her free time, she goes to Zumba classes and engages in animal welfare projects.
