Elena Verdolini

Senior Scientist, European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE),

Elena is a senior scientist at EIEE. She spent 10 years as a researcher at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (2008 – 2018) and was a visiting researcher at the Directorate for the Environment of the OECD (2008). Elena holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Pavia, a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Washington, Seattle and a PhD in Economics and Finance of the Public Administration from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. Her main interest is in applied analysis, with a focus on the dynamics of innovation, technology transfer, green growth, and the economic impacts of environmental and energy policies. Elena has been involved in several internationally funded research projects, most recently the H2020 project INNOPATHS, a major effort to characterise the EU energy transition, highlighting systemic barriers and enablers. She was one of the authors of the Deep Decarbonisation Pathways Project for Italy and was nominated Lead Author of the 6th Assessment Report of the IPCC in Working Group III.
