Daniel Mayer

Public funding manager

Daniel joined the Development Team in 2019 to support the implementation of Bruegel's fundraising and partnership strategy. In his current role he is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing publicly funded research opportunities; as well as fostering and maintaining relations to partners and contractors. Projects he is managing cover research areas such as energy & climate, future of work, digital and innovation, and international trade.

Before joining Bruegel, Daniel was part of the Capacity Building Team at The European Consumers Organisation (BEUC). Prior to that, he worked at the European Parliament, and the European Cyclists' Federation. He is engaged in public affairs for civil society organisations both voluntarily and professionally in Vienna and Brussels.

Daniel is an Austrian citizen, holds a Masters degree in International relations and European Union Studies from Leiden University and BA in Development Studies from the University of Vienna. He is a native German speaker, fluent in English, and has some knowledge of French and Spanish.
