Alvaro Nadal
State Secretary, Head of the Economic Bureau of the Prime Minister, Spain,
Álvaro Nadal was appointed Secretary of State as Head of the Economic
Bureau of the Spanish Prime Minister on 24 December 2011.
Before joining the Presidency of the Government, Álvaro Nadal was Deputy
General for Programming and Evaluation of EU Funds at the Ministry of
Economy and Finance- 2004. Prior to that, he held several positions as Adviser
at the Secretary of State of Budgets and Expenditures - Ministry of Finance in
2004; Chief Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of Spain in
Israel 2001-2003; Adviser to Ministers Montoro and Rato at the Ministry of
Economy 1998-2001; Adviser to the Minister of Industry and Energy 1997.
Congressman for Albacete years 2004-2011 (PP) and Secretary of Economy
and Employment at the Popular Party, for the same period. Assistant
spokesman at the Economic Commission in Congress.
He graduated in Law and Economics from ICADE University, Madrid and
completed his studies with a two-year Ph.D. course in Economics at Harvard
University – years 1997-1998.
He is a State Economist and Trade Expert and has taught at the IE Business
School in Madrid. He speaks fluent English, German and French.
