Alejandra Kindelán

Head of Economic Research and Public Policy, Banco Santander,

Ms Kindelán joined Santander’s Research Department in 1994 where she was in charge of the international economy. In 2001 she was appointed as Head of Research and Public Policy Department at Banco Santander. Today she is Senior Vice-President of the Communications, Group Marketing and Research Division. She oversees the Research, Public Policy, Institutional and Government relations and Protocol departments. Ms. Kindelan is also member of the Board of Santander Rio, the Santander Group franchise in Argentina.

Among her current responsibilities, Ms. Kindelán coordinates Santander’s position in regulatory and non-regulatory financial issues, macroeconomic analysis and research on Spain, Eurozone, UK and Latin American countries for the Group’s Financial Division and other support and business areas. She and her team also provide support to the Bank’s top management (chairman and board members) in drafting speeches, articles and presentations. She coordinates relations with institutional stakeholders and Santander ´s presence in international fora.

Prior to joining Santander Ms. Kindelán worked as a consultant for the World Bank. She holds a double degree in Economics and Political Science from Wellesley College (Wellesley, Massachusetts) and has completed post graduate programmes in IESE (Madrid) and INSEAD (Fontainebleau).
