The Euro at 10: Time for Greater Transatlantic Economic Cooperation?
Description: The research project aims at establishing a transatlantic dialogue on major policy issues in the context of the international development of the euro and promotion of dialogue within civil society. The project proposes a range of conferences, publications and press efforts in order to raise the awareness in the US of the global economic role of the EU and of the euro.
The three conferences, respectively addressed to audiences of high level policy stakeholders, of economic policy researchers, and of broader civil society, cover the following topics:
- The euro’s influence on transatlantic relations and the global economy;
- The points of convergence in EU-US financial integration, the macroeconomic response to financial turbulence and regulatory collaboration;
- The external role of the European Union and the euro as well as governance reform in the international financial institutions in light of the process of economic and monetary integration in the EU and the growing global weight of emerging market economies.
