Strait is the gate - Europe's immigration priorities

by Jakob von Weizsäcker on 19th July 2008

This policy brief sets out priorities for a common European immigration policy. Migratory pressure on the EU is rising, some member states with a significant stock of immigrants are facing major integration challenges, and the EU is struggling to attract and retain top talent in the global competition for high-skilled workers.

The policy brief identifies three priority areas for European policy action: high-skilled migration, irregular migration, and asylum.
