Director Jean Pisani-Ferry writes in German financial newspaper Handelsblatt discusses the state of the European Union within the context of global governance. The emergence of the G20 as the premier international governing platform, he argues, has put the EU in a tough position: major economic decisions are being made at this global level, usurping the EU's most important role, and individual European countries that are represented at the G20 may feel that the EU is less necessary on the global scene.
